Yesterday I hosted the first District 10 Kickoff meeting of the year. After being elected in June, my teammate, the district secretary, and I brainstormed what we wanted to accomplish this year and came up with three main goals: improving communication, increasing out community impact, and promoting district unity. In order to tackle the first goal, in addition to frequent communication via email and social media, we decided to host a district-wide meeting where we introduced ourselves, presented out plans for the year, got feedback on them, and heard any other ideas. This was the first time our district has ever held a district-wide meeting, and it was very positive. We had a decent turn out and the group was very interactive and contributed many ideas. Afterwards I compiled all our ideas for community service, social events, and more, as well as questions about what changes members would like to see this year, into a survey which was sent out to all the advisors in District 10, in order to further promote communication and foster inclusivity, which we will use to finalize our plans.

We have a goal of at least two district wide service events, at least two social events, hosting a district-wide leadership retreat, improving public awareness of FFA and agriculture through involvement in multiple events, and in general more district representation and involvement. None of these events have been held in District 10 before, so we are excited to implement more district wide activities.

We are looking forward to a successful year and and are happy to be off to a positive start.
