For the past three years I have had the opportunity to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. This past week I attended it with 5 other chapter members. On the bus ride up we stopped and did agricultural industry tours in Georgia, and visited locations like Stone Mountain in Georgia, Mammoth Cave in Alabama, and the National Corvette Museum.
Once in Indianapolis we spent 4 days attending the convention. We got to attend sessions where we heard from our National Officer Team, watched videos of proficiency award winners, and heard from multiple guest speakers including President Donald Trump. We also got to go to multiple workshops hosted by state and national officers from around the country, industry leaders, and others. These workshops focused on leadership development and career success, and we learned a lot from them.
One of my favorite parts of the convention was the career and college expo. There is a very large expo with informative and interactive booths from companies, state FFA organizations, and many colleges that we got the chance to speak with and learn from.
The benefit of taking a bus ride up is my school spends the week (and hours in the bus) with the other schools who attend. There are about 80 other students on the trip from other counties in Florida. We are the only school who goes from our county, which is nice because we get to meet entirely new people. We also room with people we don't know which gives us further chances to get to know them.
