I attended the week-long 2018 Florida FFA State Convention with two other members from my chapter. At convention I attended multiple leadership workshops, sessions, and met a number of people from around Florida. In addition to going on stage to be recognized for placing first high individual for veterinary science, I spent the week campaigning for district office. In FFA, district office is the highest office a high schooler can hold, as our state and national officer are college students. There are 12 districts in Florida, and the district I am in, District X, spans 6 counties.
Campaigning started back in April after I applied and made it as a candidate (alongside 6 other candidates for the President position, and 6 for Secretary). I attended many banquets, met many FFA members, and spoke to a number of chapters both before and at State Convention. At convention, I gave a candidacy speech and was honored to be elected to the position of District X President!
As the District President, I will spend the year working to improve the district by hosting bonding events, community service events, and will work to advocate for agriculture.
I am very excited to have been elected and look forward to the upcoming year.
