(Video Diary) Scuba Certification in the Florida Keys

Writer's picture: Emma ReinischEmma Reinisch

My UF Scuba Diving class and I spent the weekend in Key Largo to do our final dives for our scuba certification! The first day we did two dives down to ~50 feet in order to obtain the certification. We had to stay with our instructors and buddy so they could evaluate our skills. The second day, however, we were officially certified so we did two more dives where we could go anywhere in the dive site as long as we were with our buddy.

The dives were incredible, and I have definitely caught the scuba bug! We went to three reefs and a wreck, and I got to see multiple sharks, jellyfish, barracuda, moray eels, parrot fish, puffer fish, and tons of interesting coral!

Next semester I will be taking advanced scuba diving through UF, where I will become advanced open water certified, advanced rescue diver certified, and nitrox certified!

Check out my videos for each day of the trip!
